 The sad thing about running a popular site is that the more popular your site gets, the more it draws in the scammers and spammers. We currently have many automated systems that protect users and a few more that are planned but have not yet been coded.

    Our system is pretty good (although not perfect, and always being improved upon) at finding people that have duplicate accounts and nipping them in the bud. This has a bonus effect of cutting down on spam before it happens since many...
of the duplicate accounts are being created for purposes of spamming. We are pretty good at squashing PM spam before they get sent as well.

Unfortunately, not everything can be automated and some things require the end-user to consciously choose to use the tools given to them. Here are some tips to protect yourself...

    * Use a strong password - there are many people who would love to maliciously take over your account. Protect yourself against your account being compromised via phishing by never (EVER) using a password here that you use anywhere else.

    * Ask to see analytics - When buy a site, ask the seller to link their Google Analytics to the auction. Our system is able to pull the data directly from Google Analytics via the API. Obviously not every site uses Google Analytics, but a very large percentage do.

    * Ask seller to verify domain ownership - When you buy a site or domain, ask the seller to verify they are the rightful owner of the domain being sold. It takes them about 2 minutes to do so and can give you some peace of mind that they aren't trying to sell you something they don't own. If they won't verify that they own the domain, it's probably a good idea to move on.

    * Do your research - It always strikes me as odd when someone wonders why they were scammed from someone who has nothing but negative iTrader ratings. You can see a user's iTrader history, look at it.

    * Large ticket items - If you are buying something that is a large dollar amount, protect yourself further by using an escrow service to handle the transaction (for example escrow.com). You can also protect yourself (as a buyer or seller) by asking the other party to become phone verified.

    * Gunakan password yang kuat - ada banyak orang yang akan senang jahat mengambil alih account Anda. Lindungi diri Anda terhadap account Anda berkompromi melalui phishing dengan tidak (PERNAH) menggunakan password yang Anda gunakan di sini di tempat lain.

Jika mereka tidak akan memverifikasi bahwa mereka memiliki domain, itu mungkin ide yang baik untuk melanjutkan.

    * Lakukan riset Anda - It selalu menyerang saya aneh ketika seseorang bertanya-tanya mengapa mereka scammed dari seseorang yang tidak ada tapi peringkat iTrader negatif. Anda dapat melihat sejarah iTrader pengguna, lihat itu.
